SUBSURFACE DRAINAGE
MRC works with product engineers to determine the best and most appropriate sub-base and subsurface drainage for each proposed road traffic and civil construction terrain. We prefer to use Keytech geosynthetic drainage products such as Bidim, Geo-Pipe, Flo-drain, Megaflo, Dumple-drain and Zip-drain for
- Pavement edge drainage,
- sports field drainage,
- structural drainage,
- erosion control,
- soil separation and stabilization,
- railtrack base strengthening and drainage ,
- the reinforcement of soil slopes,
- landfill liner protection and
- road maintenance.
MRC is also an applicator for Rocla reticulation products, which include sewer pipes, concrete manholes and culverts. These are tried and tested engineering products installed according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
At MRC, we acknowledge that water is a powerful and destructive element that can destroy our work unless appropriate precautions are taken during the construction period. Over a period of time it can erode even bedrock, so it is little wonder that water can weaken the sub-bases of roads that lack appropriate subsurface drainage and eventually cause the road surfaces to collapse into cracks and potholes.
The risk of damage to a tar road can be minimized by appropriate base preparation and reticulation. You can cut initial costs and take a chance by just laying a tar road, but the chances are good that rainwater will wreak havoc in just one wet season.
